The automatic center punch was invented in 1904 by William G. Hartley.
It became popular in the 20th century. This BYTAL™ has two functions: center punch and dry marker.
A center punch presses the pointed end against the workpiece and stores the force in a spring.Releases at the last moment to strike.
The pointed tip is made of carbide and is not easily damaged.
By striking the material, the perforation point is marked with a small groove. This small groove at the perforation point acts as a guide to prevent the drill from slipping when drilling, helping to maintain the center.
Dry markers are work-related colored pencils that can be used on rough surfaces such as concrete and metal plates that would be damaged by regular pens. They are also easier to recognize visually than regular colored pencils.
You can adjust the length of the lead by turning the pen body by hand.
Compatible with standard 2.8mm dry marker leads.-caution-
You can break glass 'in an emergency', but if you hit the center of the glass, it will break. There is a risk of injury as the hands and arms pass through.
Be sure to strike from a location where you will not be hurt if the glass breaks (such as the edge of the glass).
